Field report: Evangelical Hospital Bethel (EvKB) Kantensiek multi-storey car park
The refurbishment with Triflex liquid applied waterproofing secured the car park of the Evangelical Hospital Bethel (EvKB), Kantensiek. Leaky joints and cracks in the waterproofing meant that rainwater and chlorides dissolved in de-icing salt had reached the interior of the building. This resulted in corrosion damage to the steel girders and building reinforcement. The traffic and mobility management office therefore commissioned the Bethel Institution to repair the three open decks concerned. Site manager Detlev Kroos from the DLZ Bau + Technik of the Bethel Institution approached Kögel Bau GmbH & Co. KG, Bad Oeynhausen, with the requirement for an elastic seal that would safely integrate the numerous details such as joints and floor drains and at the same time reliably protect against moisture ingress. Planners, fabricators and building owners jointly decided in favour of the Triflex ProPark version 2 top deck waterproofing system based on polymethyl methacrylate (PMMA).
